Lake Greenwood Clean Up – March 13th

Lake Greenwood Cleanup

The first ever Lake Greenwood Cleanup Blitz helped Keep Greenwood County Beautiful (KGCB) receive National and Statewide recognition. Keep Greenwood County Beautiful was awarded the Arm & Hammer Essentials Award for the greatest number of miles of shorelines cleaned up in a single event.
All school groups, church groups, and youth groups, and concerned citizens are encouraged to participate in the cleanup on Saturday, March 13, 2010. We are seeking volunteers with boats to assist in clean up of the shoreline as well. (All boating rules and regulations apply.)
The event begins at 8:00 a.m. and concludes with a volunteer lunch at 11:30 a.m. Volunteers will receive t-shirt and lunch and will be entered into prizes drawings. Please call 1-877-725-7733 (M-Th/9 – 5) or 941-3370 to volunteer/register. This will reserve your thank you t-shirt and lunch. During the 2010 Great American Cleanup, KGCB will be encouraging all organizations to collect PET (plastic bottles) bottles for recycling. In addition, all young adults ages 18 – 24 are encouraged to register for the “o.b.® mighty. small.™ challenge” at mightysmall.com – please contact Toni Able for further information – 864-941-3370

District Mid-Year Assembly – Rescheduled

Mid Year Assembly RESCHEDULED!

It is 61 degrees outside and I can’t believe that I am writing this e-mail.  We have 110 members registered for the Mid Year Assembly.  We have speakers and their Pecha Kucha presentations have been e-mailed in. The Hilton is ready to host us.

Unfortunately, the weather channel is calling for rain/freezing rain with 100% chance of precipitation Friday night.  The forecasted high Saturday for Greenville is 32 degrees with a 90% chance of precipitation,  Some are saying 2 to 4 inches of snow north of I-85. Who knows?  I suspect conditions south of Greenville will be better, but I would hate for people to encounter black ice or get stranded.

The Hotel has agreed to move the event at no charge. I am therefore postponing Saturday’s Mid Year Assembly until February 13th.  Becky Faulkner and I apologize for the inconvenience, but we hope all of you can still make the event.
